Piping Expansion Slip Joints

ATS Thermal Pak Expansion Joints

ATS packed slip type expansion joints provide an economical, safe, and reliable method of absorbing large amounts of axial pipe expansion and are the ideal choice for systems with long straight pipe runs.  Expansion of up to 12″ is standard in pipe sizes ranging from 1-1/2″ to 24″ NPS. Special configurations are available to accommodate as much as 24″ of expansion in both single and double (48″ total) expansion joints for service conditions to 1000 psig at 750°F.  For expansions greater than 24″ contact ATS Engineering Department.

ATS Thermal Pak expansion joints employ the latest technology and are designed to meet the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code as well as the ASTM F1007 Specification covering packed slip type expansion joints.

ATS Thermal Pak Flexible Ball Joints

ATS Thermal Pak Flexible Ball Joints

ATS packed ball joints provide an economical, safe, and reliable method of absorbing large amounts of single and multiple plane displacements including rotation.  Ball joints are an ideal choice for systems with vertical pipe runs and/or natural offsets. Ball Joints are available in sizes ranging from 3/4″ to 30″ for service conditions of up to 1000 psig at 750°F.  ATS designed ball joints can accommodate 15° to 33° of angular flex and 360° of rotation.

ATS Thermal Pak ball joints employ the latest technology and are designed to meet the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code as well as the ASTM F1298 Specification covering packed ball type expansion joints.

ATS Guides and Supports

ATS Thermal Pak Expansion Joints

ATS Low Friction Graphite Guides and Supports provide the most dependable pipe support systems available.  Proper use of ATS Low Friction Graphite Guides and Supports will provide trouble free service for the life of the piping system.  Sizes ranging from 1″ to 24″ are available in both non-insulated and pre-insulated designs with either bolt down or weld bases.  ATS Low Friction Guides are designed to accommodate a total of 8″ of axial pipe movement.  The Low Friction Supports will handle the same 8″ of axial movement plus ±3″ of lateral movement.  Greater axial and lateral displacements can be accommodated with special designs.

Low Friction graphite (1/2″ thick) with a compressive strength of 2000 psi is used on both the upper and lower assemblies thus providing a low coefficient of friction between the sliding surfaces (f=0.15).  ATS Low Friction Guides and Supports can be provided for systems with operating temperatures of up to 750°F.

Packing Cylinders

ATS Packing Cylinder Type “A”

The ATS Type “A” Packing Cylinder for many years has provided economic and safe provisions for packing injection under full line pressure.

MAXIMUM PRESSURE: 300 psig APPLICABLE EJ SIZE: 1 1/2” & Larger

ATS Packing Cylinder Type “B”

The ATS Type “B” Packing Cylinder has an integral Stainless-Steel Safety Valve which provides for positive shut off during the packing injection process.

MAXIMUM PRESSURE: 850 psig APPLICABLE EJ SIZE: 1 1/2” & Larger

ATS Packing Cylinder Type”C”

The ATS Type “C” Packing Cylinder is a heavy-duty packing cylinder, designed
for use in high pressure/temperature applications, which require maximum reliability. This design is furnished for all applications over 850 psig, and for other applications on specification.

MAXIMUM PRESSURE: 1000 psig APPLICABLE EJ SIZE: 6” & Larger

ATS SAF-T-PACKER Type “GB” & “GC”

The SAF-T-PACKER® is normally used when injecting the first plug of packing into either a Type “B” or Type “C” Packing Cylinder. With the safety valve on the packing cylinder in the closed position, the packing plunge1r is disengaged from the packing cylinder.
